Interactive Poster: ArcTrees—Relations in Hierarchies
نویسندگان
چکیده
Hierarchical data sets often include relations indicating natural or imposed dependencies between data items. Both types of relations, hierarchical and other, are often needed to understand the data. We present, ARCTREES, a novel way of visualizing hierarchical and non-hierarchical relations within one interactive visualization. An initial user study is described wherein ARCTREES compared favorably to the traditional Treemap visualization. CR Categories: H.5.m [Information Interfaces and Presentation]: Miscellaneous—;

ArcTrees: Visualizing Relations in Hierarchical Data
In this paper we present, ARCTREES, a novel way of visualizing hierarchical and non-hierarchical relations within one interactive visualization. Such a visualization is challenging because it must display hierarchical information in a way that the user can keep his or her mental map of the data set and include relational information without causing misinterpretation. We propose a hierarchical v...
متن کاملInteractive Poster: A Point-Based Layout for Large Hierarchies
Space-filling layout techniques for tree representations are frequently used when the available screen space is small or the data set is large. In this paper, we propose a new approach to space-filling tree representations, which uses mechanisms from the point-based rendering paradigm. We also numerically evaluate our new technique together with two established space-filling techniques using th...
متن کاملInteractive Poster: Exploring OLAP Aggregates with Hierarchical Visualization Techniques
Analysts interact with data cubes in a predominantly “drill-down” fashion, i.e. from coarse grained aggregates towards the desired level of detail. Hierarchical visualization techniques offer an adequate structure for mapping the logic of the exploration due to preserving the overview of the entire interaction and providing the details of every drill-down step. We present a novel user interface...
متن کاملVisualization and navigation of networked information spaces: the Matrix Browser
This paper presents work in progress on our approach to visualize networked information. In our research efforts in order to visualize strongly networked information, we soon recognized that visualizing the network as a network is rather the problem than the solution (Ziegler, 2001). Typically there are multiple part-hierarchies embedded in the general graph. We propose a new graphical user int...
متن کامل'Viral' Turing Machines, Computation from Noise and Combinatorial Hierarchies
The interactive computation paradigm is reviewed and a particular example is extended to form the stochastic analog of a computational process via a transcription of a minimal Turing Machine into an equivalent asynchronous Cellular Automaton with an exponential waiting times distribution of effective transitions. Furthermore, a special toolbox for analytic derivation of recursive relations of i...
